Embossing Paste With Flowers of Beauty With Video Tutorial

Join me for a FUN and CREATIVE CARD-MAKING EXPERIENCE using Stampin’ Up!’s Shimmering Embossing Paste and New Flowers of Beauty stamp bundle for this stunning card. So grab a fork, dauber, or ink spot, your Embossing Paste, and an ink refill or two, and let’s have some fun. Happy Stamping!

Note: In the video, at the 35:38 mark, there is a 1 minute blackout due to technical issues. I’m sorry about it and I don’t know how yet to edit a live stream.

Card Directions

  1. Cut and score all cardstock and papers as listed under Cutting Directions below.
  2. Fold the Basic White Thick Card Base in half on the score line, and burnish it with a Bone Folder.
  3. Tip: Before beginning, have a bowl/cup of warm, soapy water and paper towels to clean the tools. Cover your crafting space before working with the embossing paste. This will allow for an easy cleanup and less mess. Place a dollop of Shimmery Embossing Paste on a large acrylic block wrapped in wax paper or saran wrap. Add a couple of drops of Azure Afternoon and Boho Blue ink refill to the paste and mix with a palette knife.
  4. Use a palette knife to spread the embossing paste over the Thick Basic White embossing paste layer and inside strip.
  5. To create the square pattern, use the bottom of a Stampin’ Spot to “stamp” squares in the wet embossing paste. Then, place the bottom of the Stampin’ Spot (clean off with a wet paper towel if filled with ink) and palette knife in warm, soapy water so the paste does not harden on the tools.
  6. Let the embossing paste dry. Depending on how thick the embossing paste is applied it may take a few minutes to a few hours. To speed up drying time, use a Heat Tool on the lowest setting, to avoid overheating or burning the paste. The heat tool may cause the embossing paste to puff up or bubble.
  7. Once the Embossing Paste has dried, adhere the blue embossed layer to the Basic White Cardstock then adhere this to the Pretty In Pink card base.
  8. Stamp the flower outline on White Cardstock using Pretty In Pink, Peach Pie, and Petunia Pop Ink for 3 flowers. Use the coordinating stamps to fill in the flowers with color by stamping off once before stamping the flowers. Crop flowers with the coordinating die.
  9. Cut the greenery from Shy Shamrock Cardstock and the larger two flower strips from Petunia Pop Cardstock (you can substitute with the new In colors DSP).
  10. Adhere the greenery to the card front with Liquid Glue and/or Mini Glue Dots. Add the large flowers with Dimensionals. Add the Petunia Pop flowers with Liquid Glue or Glue Dots on the end of the tall greenery. Brush Wink of Stella on the flowers.
  11. Stamp the greeting in Shy Shamrock Ink onto Basic White Cardstock, cut with the Stylish Shape chevron die. Adhere to the card front with Dimensionals.
  12. The inside was completed with the sentiment stamped in Shy Shamrock Ink onto Basic White Cardstock. Stamp a flower in the bottom corner using the same two-step process you did on the front flowers.
  13. For the Envelope add a piece of Designer Series Paper that matches one of the flower colors to the Envelope Flap, trim off excess.
  • The blue panel was made using an Ink Spot. Re-inkers used are Azure Afternoon and Boho Blue.
  • The pink panel was made using a Dauber. Re-inkers used are Mango Melody and Bubble Bath. The middle color is a combination of the two re-inkers.
  • The light green panel was made using a fork. Re-inkers used are Lemon Lime Twist and Daffodil Delight.
